Responsibilities |
Responsibility:
1. This position is responsible for leading and managing the engineering department in Wuqing.
2. This position is responsible for establishing, maintaining and managing all facets of the engineering department in the design of new or modification of existing valve actuation products and systems.
3. Work includes new product design, major modifications to existing products to add features and/or reduce cost; creating new products scaled from existing products; design and configuring of engineered-to-order “customer special” products; design of mounting kits and adapters that integrate actuators with valves; design modifications of pneumatic, hydraulic, and gas/hydraulic control systems for new applications; and technical qualification support for new vendors and processes.
4. Individual will have responsibility for design department budget, resources, hardware, software, design tools, scheduling, priority setting, employee development, and communication.
5. Individual will insure the design team is working effectively with suppliers, valve automation centers, and manufacturing sites to produce profitable quality product.
6. Build and manage the Wuqing engineering team ensuring that designs, projects, work orders, and initiatives are processed and implemented on time, within budget, and meet the objectives and applicable standards.
7. Plan and prioritize department objectives to insure cost, quality, resources, and product delivery are consistent with the business organization.
8. Work with Project Management and other departments to define work order requirements, and to address or support customer product problems as required.
9. Coordinate and communicate regularly with other Valve Automation engineering centers to ensure consistent product design standards, tools, and resource utilization are employed.
10. Organize, develop, and ensure training of product design engineering staff is provided to meet continued product quality, performance, delivery, and technology standards. Establish and maintain effectiveness of the engineering staff through implementation of performance and career development programs ensuring appropriate training.
11. Implement department metrics and review them to ensure acceptable performance to the company.
12. Participate in, form, or lead steering committees as required to drive organizational usage of standard Valve Automation tools, processes, and procedures.
13. Work closely with Strategic Business Units, Project Management, Procurement, Quality, Operations, Human Resources, and Finance departments to set department objectives, attain customer satisfaction goals, citizenship goals, and people goals of the company.
14. Responsible for budget development and engineering spending.
15. Prepare monthly written and verbal reports on project and department status for broad distribution. |
Requirements |
Qualification:
1. BSME/MSME or equivalent with minimum 5 years of engineering management experience, and minimum 5-10 years of experience in engineering design.
2. Demonstrated effective people management, team building, leadership, and interpersonal skills required.
3. Core emphasis in Mechanical Design; Pneumatic, Hydraulic and Gas/Hydraulic Control Systems Design; Pressure Vessel Design; Gear Design and Mechanics of Materials is valuable.
4. Design experience in the process control industry and with actuators of all types is preferred. A proven, effective, engineering leader/manager. A motivated self-starter with an understanding of engineering principles and their application.
5. Mechanical competence, confidence, and ability to lead and motivate a design engineering team in meeting schedule and quality commitments.
6. An effective communicator with demonstrated excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
7. Working knowledge of ASME, ANSI, and Chinese industry codes and standards. Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems, with Solid Edge exposure a plus. Familiar with Microsoft Office applications – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook. Previous with MS PowerPoint and MS Project a plus.
8. Prior experience with pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems, especially those for actuation is a definite plus. Willing to travel internationally; eligible for US, European Union, and Canadian visas.
9. Effective oral and written communication skills including proficiency in English & Mandarin required. Demonstrated planning, organizational, and team skills required. |
