Responsibilities |
Summary
Work with external customers, sales rep, sales and internal customers by preparing drawings, holding design reviews and launching new designs. An ideal candidate would be a detail orientated person who enjoys working in a fast paced manufacturing environment and who possesses excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Additional desired skills include manufacturing process knowledge as well as experience working in an ISO quality system environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Concept generation for new switches
· Interpret customer technical need and convert them into internal engineering document
· Prepare solutions to the sales/customer to meet customer specifications
· Advise customers about the best design options for the products we produce.
· Effectively communicate with vendors, customers, application engineers, quality and sales departments.
· Evaluate material problems and recommend alternate materials for use in the product design.
· Confer with producers of materials such as metals, adhesives or polymers during investigation and evaluation of materials suitable for specific product applications.
· Assist in transitioning products from engineering into manufacturing and helping with process engineering where needed.
· Leading projects including holding team meetings, maintaining timelines and follow-up to insure timely product introductions. |
Requirements |
Qualifications & Skills
· BS (preferably in Mechanical or tooling) and 5 years+ related design experience. Experience in process engineering, product design and engineering change systems required. Must be fully proficient using Auto Cad (14 or higher) to produce documents and equipment drawings, solid modeling programs for looking at 3D models from customer sites and Microsoft Office products required.
· Must be willing to travel as required.
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, engineering drawings and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedures and engineering documents. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, as well as geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several abstract and concrete variables.
